Its inclusion on the U.S. blacklist aims to further tighten the blockade, the Russian diplomat pointed out.
On Tuesday, Russian Foreign Affairs Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova firmly questioned U.S. President Donald Trump’s decision to include Cuba on the list of “State Sponsors of Terrorism.”

Previously, Trump reversed the decisions made by the Joe Biden administration regarding the lifting of restrictions on financial transactions with Cuban entities. he also blamed Biden for introducing inflationary, illegal, and radical practices across all federal government departments and agencies.
His executive order also indicates that the Trump administration seeks to implement a policy that will once again make the United States a united, just, safe, and prosperous country.
“It is unclear what all of this has to do with Cuba, and on what basis Cuba is being included again on this notorious list,” Zakharova pointed out.
“This is not really a fight against terrorism. The previous U.S. administration declared that there was no evidence of Cuba supporting international terrorism. And this remains an indisputable fact,” she added.
“We feel it is necessary to emphasize once again that Cuba has an impeccable and exemplary reputation as an active participant in international cooperation in the fight against terrorism,” the Russian diplomat stressed.
Zakharova highlighted that Cuba’s inclusion on the blacklist aims to further tighten the blockade against Cuba, with the hope of destabilizing the situation and changing the government in Cuba.
“It is clearly impossible to ignore that U.S. restrictions have an extremely negative impact on the quality of life of the island’s population. Are they betting on provoking social discontent?” she asked.
“After more than 60 years of harsh sanctions and political pressure against Havana, Washington has failed to acknowledge the futility of imposing its will on the Cuban people,” the Russian diplomat said, emphasizing that her country will continue to support the Caribbean nation in defending its state sovereignty and its demands for an immediate and complete end to the economic blockade.
